Yellowstone fans were left in shock after another major character was killed off on Sunday night in a huge plot twist.
Viewers immediately took to social media to share reactions to the bombshell episode, which was hailed as ‘insane’, ‘incredible’ and ‘amazing.’
Following the shock death of Kevin Costner‘s iconic lead character John Dutton, Sarah Atwood, played by Dawn Olivieri, also met a grisly end in the final moments of season five, episode 11.
Sarah Atwood was killed by two assassins from the company she hired to kill Dutton, while she was on the phone with Jamie, which had fans simply flabbergasted.
Her death came after Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) met with the medical examiner and made enough observations to convince her John Dutton’s death was not a suicide, and actually a homicide.
After the cause of death was changed from a suicide to a homicide, Sarah desperately tried to get in touch with the company she hired to kill John Dutton, even getting a burner phone to contact them.
However when she tried calling them, the number was out of service, when Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) returned home
The two argued about how the murder investigation will make things more complicated, with Jamie ultimately slapping Sarah, leading to her leaving.
Jamie was quick to call and apologize, but during the call, a car pulled up to Sarah, with a couple asking for her help.
They asked directions to a place Sarah hadn’t heard of, but then the man asked if she was Sarah Atwood, which took her by surprise.
When she was starting to ask how he’d know her name, he quickly pulled a gun and killed her while she was on the phone with Jamie.
The assassin fired a few more shots into her chest to confirm the kill, before picking up his discarded shells and speeding off without a trace as Jamie was still on the line, screaming as loud as he could.
Fans quickly took to social media to express their shock at this killing, taking most of them by surprise though some fans were almost expecting it.

With the shady company now potentially exposed, it remains to be seen who they may go after next to try and clean up this mess.
Since Jamie was on the phone with her when she died, it’s possible they may try to take out the Attorney General next.
Kayce revealed that he knew where the gun used to commit the murder was supposed to be, requesting that footage be pulled up.
Whether or not these black ops soldiers will be revealed remains to be seen with just three episodes remaining in the series.
Yellowstone returns Sunday, December 1, followed by the penultimate episode Sunday, December 8 and the series finale Sunday, December 15 on Paramount Network.
