Synopsis
It’s聽Christmas Day聽in the聽ED聽and the team are faced with an emergency blood shortage. Whilst聽Stevie聽fights to save lives,聽Iain聽risks his own to ensure the聽hospital聽doesn’t go without.聽Dylan聽defies his Scrooge-like reputation by rehoming a patient’s dog.[1]
The special was first announced by聽Elinor Lawless聽who portrays聽Stevie Nash聽in an interview with聽TV Times聽in聽September聽2024聽who praised its “beautiful” scripts and “lovely documentary/drama element with聽It’s a Wonderful Life聽vibes”.[2]
On聽7 September, a teaser trailer for the special was included before the end credits of the聽Storm Damage聽finale “Freedom”. Set to the song “Fairytale of New York” by聽the Pogues, the teaser depicted聽resus 1聽buried under a blanket of snow covered in blood, scattered medical equipment and Christmas decorations.
