TWIN PEAKED EastEnders’ new boss ERASES controversial character from soap’s history after major return

EASTENDERS’ new boss Ben Wadey has erased a controversial storyline and character from the show’s history after bringing back Zoe Slater.

The executive producer took over the BBC soap from former boss Chris Clenshaw earlier this year and set about bringing back an iconic star from two decades ago for a full-time return.

Actress Michelle Ryan has made her comeback as Zoe Slater, Kat Slater’s eldest daughter.

Viewers watched this week as Zoe was revealed to have had twins in her time away from Walford, with one sadly dying.

However there was a huge elephant in the room as Zoe and Kat failed to mention Zoe’s own twin – Dermott.

Back in 2016 Kat made the discovery that she’d actually given birth to two children during her ordeal with late legendary actress June Whitfield playing the nun who told her.

The storyline sparked a major spin-off show, Redwater, on the BBC in 2017 where Kat came face to face with her adult son.

The controversial show saw him revealed as a murderer and a priest, and ended on a cliffhanger with Kat fighting for her life.

Irish actor Oisín Stack played Kat’s son Dermott in the BBC drama.

It has been seldom mentioned in the soap since Kat’s return but now producer Ben has confirmed that the storyline has been erased from EastEnders history.

The soap boss told The Sun: “It’s an interesting question.

“Look, it was a brilliant show Redwater but obviously, a fair few years ago now and adds a different element in a, I’d say for now parallel universe to Walford.”

EastEnders legend Max Branning returns – as Zoe Slater is left fighting for her life after shock shooting

This means there will be no mention of Dermott in the show – nor anything about what happened in EastEnders to Kat surrounding the reveal of her twins.

Instead Zoe’s twins will become the main mystery with her daughter believed to have died during the traumatic birth and her son adopted out.

A flashback revealed Zoe gave birth in 2006 meaning her son will be 19 now and no doubt set to arrive in Walford soon.
