Several characters from the two canceled FBI spinoffs should appear in FBI season 8. For several years, the FBI shows took up the entire prime-time programming block on Tuesday nights. However, FBI: Most Wanted and FBI: International were two of several shows that CBS canceled in 2025 despite their relatively high ratings. The cancellation news led to widespread speculation about whether any characters would reappear in FBI once their respective spinoffs were finished.
Theoretically, both the Fugitive Task Force and Fly Team still exist, although FBI: International‘s lackluster ending didn’t make it clear who was going to be in charge of the Fly Team once the final credits rolled. However, this does not preclude characters from these shows making guest appearances in FBI season 8, and there are several characters who have logical connections to the FBI universe and thus should be seen again from time to time.
6 Nina Chase

Nina is the most obvious choice for a character to cross over to FBI. She originated from that series in FBI season 4 before transferring to the Fugitive Task Force, so it makes sense that she would continue to work with the New York Field Office from time to time. Furthermore, she is in a relationship with FBI‘s Stuart Scola (John Boyd) and the two are co-parenting baby Dougie. Thus, there are plenty of reasons for Nina to return to FBI. That said, it is unlikely that Nina would return full-time rather than remaining an occasional guest star.

Though FBI: International was canceled by CBS, the network has another FBI spinoff series starring Tom Ellis on the way that fans will also enjoy.
It has long been established that Nina and Scola prefer to work for different units so that they are never both in the field at the same time. This arrangement allows them to stagger their schedules so that a parent is always available to take care of Dougie. It also makes it less likely that they will both be killed in the line of duty at the same time. Thus, the pair will likely want to keep this arrangement rather than Nina transferring back to the New York Field Office full-time.
5 Sheryll Barnes

Barnes was promoted to team leader at the end of FBI: Most Wanted, as Remy (Dylan McDermott) was retiring. Thus, she won’t be able to join FBI‘s New York Field Office full-time. However, it’s reasonable to expect occasional cameo appearances, especially if the Field Office receives a case that has connections to work the Fugitive Task Force has done in the past. There could also be one-sided crossovers in which Barnes and Jubal work together on a joint mission, though this is less likely since FBI: Most Wanted no longer exists.
If the New York Field Office needs information about a case or suspect that is similar to one the Fugitive Task Force has handled, Barnes could make a brief cameo to deliver the information.
Jubal (Jeremy Sisto) often appeared in the spin-offs via short video chats so that he could provide needed information that allowed the other teams to close their cases more easily. Thus, Barnes could do the same thing. If the New York Field Office needs information about a case or suspect that is similar to one the Fugitive Task Force has handled, Barnes could make a brief cameo to deliver the information. Since both teams are based in New York, she could meet with Jubal in person or via a quick video chat, depending on the story’s needs.
4 Hana Gibson

It is more difficult to make a case for Hana’s inclusion than for several other characters, but there are ways to do it that are logical. Hana is the Fugitive Task Force’s computer expert, so she could collaborate with Ian (James Chen) on getting encrypted files open or gaining access to a suspect’s computer. Additionally, Hana’s tech skills are so advanced that she is the only FBI: Most Wanted character who could transfer to CIA. Thus, it’s logical to assume that the New York Field Office might occasionally rely on her expertise.

FBI: Most Wanted season 6, episode 22 wrapped up most of the storylines as the series came to an end. However, it left some questions unanswered.
Hana’s personal life could also lead to a compelling FBI story. Hana has had an on-again, off-again relationship with US Marshal Ethan McPherson (Michael Raymond-James). Ethan’s drug addiction has been a problem in the past, so if he relapses, he could cross paths with drug dealers or other criminals of interest to the FBI. Conversely, as a U.S. Marshal, Ethan might run across information that Jubal needs to close a case. Either of these scenarios would involve Ethan, and thus Hana, in an episode of FBI.

Considering Vo’s popularity and longevity with FBI: International, it’s doubly disappointing that she didn’t get a real ending when the procedural wrapped up. Instead, Vo was left in limbo at the end of FBI: International season 4, as she was waiting to hear whether she had obtained a GS-14 position elsewhere that both she and Raines had applied for. This non-ending could be fixed with a cameo appearance in FBI season 8, and it would help ease the pain of the poor wrap-up for Vo’s character if FBI did so.

Like FBI: Most Wanted‘s Hana, Amanda Tate is a computer analyst, so it doesn’t seem like she has much to do for the New York Field Office. However, Tate expanded her role in FBI: International season 4. In addition to her tech expertise, she now has experience working as an undercover agent. This dual role could be useful during a joint venture with the New York Field Office, though this may be difficult to pull off because the rest of the Fly Team is not on screen.

Between Vo and Raines, one character was more likely to have gotten the GS-14 promotion if FBI: International had continued in season 5.
That said, it’s important to find a way for FBI to use Tate. She is a newer character who didn’t get nearly as much story as she deserved during the chaotic final season. Tate visiting or joining the New York Field Office would make up for that missed opportunity. Additionally, Tate’s inclusion would allow the series to offer an update on her burgeoning relationship with Mitchell (Jesse Lee Soffer), as that storyline never had a chance to evolve past the pair’s initial interest in one another.

Mitchell is one of the only characters from FBI: International who could meet with the New York Field Office in person. At the end of the series finale, Mitchell traveled to the United States in order to meet his half-sister. While it wasn’t clear whether he was relocating permanently or visiting America for this purpose, this ending opens the door for him to appear semi-regularly in FBI.
There would be ample reason for Mitchell to appear in person on a recurring basis.
If Mitchell relocates permanently, he could transfer to the New York Field Office. Conversely, FBI could have an ongoing subplot about Jubal attempting to assist Mitchell in re-adjusting to living and working in the United States after leading the Fly Team for nearly a year. Either way, there would be ample reason for Mitchell to appear in person on a recurring basis. Allowing him to do so would also confirm that Mitchell has relocated permanently, thus giving his story the ending that it didn’t get in FBI: International.
