EastEnders star Michelle Collins opens up on break from soap
EastEnders viewers believe they have spotted a new romance plot for Phil Mitchell (played by Steve McFadden), dubbing it a ‘slow burner’.
During the latest trip to Walford (18th June), Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) encouraged her mum, Elaine (Harriet Thorpe), to get glammed up and enjoy an evening in The Queen Vic with the other local ladies.
The girls’ night out ramped up a notch when Elaine sported a black veil and announced all of their Prosecco would be on the house, leaving Linda livid.

Elaine was celebrating her separation from George Knight (Colin Salmon) and took the opportunity to flirt with Phil. She told him with a huge smile: “Just so you know, I’m getting a divorce. Well, I am available, so call me anytime.”

Phil laughed off Elaine’s words and continued to work behind the bar to help out his close mate Linda, who was short-staffed.
Earlier this year, Phil wrested with depression and suicidal thoughts which left him feeling utterly alone.
Thankfully, his friends Nigel Bates, played by Paul Bradley, and Linda were there to guide him towards the help he needed.
Linda, who suffers with alcoholism, has also used Phil for support through her own struggles and the pair now appear to be happier than ever.

However, EastEnders fans are convinced they noticed chemistry between Phil and Linda and predict they will soon become a couple.
Taking to Reddit, one EastEnders fan wrote, “She will hook up with Philth,” while another added, “Phinda is coming, just you wait.”
A third pointed out: “Phil looked at her from a distance about 3 times in the last episode = this means they’ll do hanky panky.”

Another echoed the sentiment: “That’s what I think is happening already. They’re on a slow burn.”
“I love Linda. I think her and Phil will get together. They will both run the Vic, and hopefully manage to stay off the booze. Shazza will return and be jealous,” speculated one fan.
“I can! Phil can be a proper charmer when he wants someone,” added another.
