Casualty star William Beck has provided an update on his character Dylan Keogh’s relationship with Sophia Peters, ahead of the new series

Casualty star William Beck has provided an update on his character Dylan Keogh’s relationship with Sophia Peters, ahead of the new series.

Earlier this year, Dylan grew closer to psychiatric liaison nurse Sophia. They both struggled to navigate how they were feeling, but at the end of the last series they shared a kiss.

It has been confirmed that the show will continue to explore Dylan and Sophia’s relationship in the new boxset ‘Public Property’, which begins next week.

But actor Beck has revealed that things won’t be smooth sailing for the new couple and they will face more challenges in upcoming episodes.

“The relationship with Sophia is authentically complex in the fact that it’s very difficult to read,” he said. “They are presented with a moment which they both have to try and confront, and Dylan has to go through some self-examination…”

The new run of episodes will explore the line between working in a public service job and the right to a private life, with nurse Jodie taking centrestage.

Beck explained: “It’s a real rollercoaster ride – I think particularly for Jodie, it’s a real opportunity for people to get to know her. This boxset goes to an emotional depth. Dylan strangely enough gets caught up in it because of the correlation between the situation that Jodie finds herself in.”

Dylan becomes a mentor to Jodie in the new series, as she aims to progress her career. But Jodie soon betrays his trust and goes against his advice, leading to what Beck describes as “chaos”.

On Dylan’s desire to give Jodie a helping hand, Beck said: “I think he recognises characteristics from Jodie in his own mum.

“He recognises something he cares about and that he needs to utilise some of his experience and some of those childhood regrets that we all have, those things that children grow up unfortunately blaming themselves for. I think the boy in him just would rather that she made a better go of things.”
