Synopsis
It’s Christmas Day in the ED and the team are faced with an emergency blood shortage. Whilst Stevie fights to save lives, Iain risks his own to ensure the hospital doesn’t go without. Dylan defies his Scrooge-like reputation by rehoming a patient’s dog.[1]
The special was first announced by Elinor Lawless who portrays Stevie Nash in an interview with TV Times in September 2024 who praised its “beautiful” scripts and “lovely documentary/drama element with It’s a Wonderful Life vibes”.[2]
On 7 September, a teaser trailer for the special was included before the end credits of the Storm Damage finale “Freedom”. Set to the song “Fairytale of New York” by the Pogues, the teaser depicted resus 1 buried under a blanket of snow covered in blood, scattered medical equipment and Christmas decorations.
