According to a new theory, Coronation Street could be in for a DNA shocker in the coming days.
A worrying storyline involving Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) baby son Frankie and his grandparents’ attempts to snatch him away might take an unexpected turn with a paternity twist. With a potential health plotline looming, fans are questioning whether Joel Deering is truly Frankie’s biological father.
Earlier this year, Lauren was assaulted by the violent Joel, who manipulated her into a sexual relationship. When she made a comeback to the soap in the summer, initially believed to be dead, it was revealed she was carrying Joel’s child.
After Joel attempted to harm her unborn baby by drugging Lauren, she went into premature labour and Frankie was born with several health complications. He was only recently discharged from the hospital, while Lauren is currently behind bars after killing Joel.
She acted in self-defence when he tried to murder her partner Max Turner (Paddy Bever). Lauren hopes to retain custody of baby Frankie in a mother-and-baby unit, with Max ready to step in and care for the infant, reports the Mirror.
However, this week, Joel’s parents, Anthea and Gus, arrived on the scene. Upon discovering Frankie’s identity, they pleaded with Max to let them see him.
Pretending to empathise with Lauren, their ‘true’ motives were soon revealed when they absconded with Frankie, later informing Max of their intentions to seek custody.
The drama continues to escalate on the soap as Frankie lands in the hospital with mysterious bruising, raising suspicion and concern in equal measures. Max finds himself under fire from both Gus and Anthea, but a new development arises when Lauren is told by doctors that more tests are required for her son to uncover a possible underlying health issue.
The plot thickens as viewers begin to anticipate a game-changing DNA revelation. The theory circulating among fans suggests that if Frankie does have a medical condition, it might necessitate treatment or even an organ transplant from a close kin, potentially exposing a family secret.
Soap fans are abuzz with the prediction that medical testing might reveal that Joel is not, in fact, Frankie’s genetic dad, suggesting another character could be his ‘true’ father. Despite no official teasers confirming this storyline, the fervent discussion online points to a narrative twist that could thwart Anthea and Gus’ potential claim to custody of the child.
Fans have taken to social media to voice their theories with one stating: “We all know after a DNA that Joel is not even going to be the father of Frankie.”
Someone else echoed: “Agreed, very predictable,” while another added: “If it’s ‘true,’ it will probably be Max.”
The debate amongst viewers intensifies, with one remarking: “Frankie’s ill and will need bone marrow, and once they start looking for a donor, they’ll realise the real kicker—that the kid isn’t Joel’s—his dad is Carla’s nephew [Bobby].”
Echoing this sentiment, another fan predicts: “They’re not the grandparents of Frankie, DNA test will prove it,” while another restates: “It’s Max.”
