Yellowstone’s season five has seen some jaw-dropping developments and fans has flocked to social media to praise the ‘insane’ ending following another deadly episode
After Yellowstone delivered yet another shocking twist Sunday night, the character whose violent death left everyone blindsided has discussed her exit.
Sarah Atwood, portrayed by Dawn Olivieri, was gunned down in the final seconds of series five’s eleventh episode by assassins from the same firm she had previously hired to kill John Dutton. The episode revealed that Kayce Dutton, played by Luke Grimes, had convinced the medical examiner to change Dutton’s cause of death from suicide to homicide.
It set off a chain of events, ultimately leading to Sarah’s demise. The actress has now spoken about her time on the show before her next role as she stars in the upcoming film Homestead alongside Neal McDonough, which is out a week before Christmas.

She told the Hollywood Reporter: “I always sort of know it’s coming. We got what we all wanted. I think everyone is happy. I tend to play that character that you love to hate, and that character is always setting up the hero to win. And, how does the hero win?
“I always sort of know it’s coming, and to read it (in the script) is like, “OK, here we go,”‘ she added: “Dying as an actor is really an interesting journey, because I really try to go as deep as I possibly can and I make it as real as I possibly can. A death for me just means a life somewhere else.”
Fans were gripped following a heated argument with Jamie Dutton, played by Wes Bentley, that turned physical, and she was confronted by two strangers asking for directions. The encounter quickly turned deadly when one of the assailants recognised her and opened fire while she was on a phone call with Jamie.
“That was an incredible episode of Yellowstone. Wow. What an insane ending!” wrote one social media user. Another posted: “I’ve gotta give Yellowstone some credit. This season is getting good. Given the circumstances and the messiness of it all, they have done as good of a job as they can in the aftermath.”
Despite Kevin cutting ties with the series as of last June, there’s online chatter suggesting he could surprise audiences with a return., Express US report. During a discussion on Reddit, one fan suggested: “John is not dead, the hit was intercepted and he is working to bring down the fixer who is hooking up with Jamie.”
This theory arises despite the absence of Costner’s image from the scene. John is never fully identified on camera, suggesting potentially severe facial injuries. While the speculation wasn’t intended for serious consideration, another commenter chimed in, claiming: “The dead body was a double where the face was too badly injured to truly identify.
