Kelly Reilly, who plays Beth Dutton – the sharp-tongued, chain-smoking, fiercely loyal anti-hero and daughter of sixth-generation cattle baron John Dutton – on the hit Paramount show Yellowstone, recently shared her feelings about Hollywood in an interview with Town & Country.
With the second part of the show’s (supposedly) final season in full swing, she is reflecting on the “fakeness” of the entertainment industry and how she keeps herself grounded.
The 47-year-old self-proclaimed introvert explained how she doesn’t “participate in the noise in any way,” and considers her life to be, at times, “very boring,” despite being the star of a hit TV show.
Kelly, who fans were shocked to find out is British, could not be more opposite from the character she portrays on the neo-western drama show. While she has been working since she was a teenager, she admits that the glitz and glam of Hollywood is not for her. She says: “I have always loved my job, but the business can sometimes present challenges that I didn’t feel I was cut out for.”

While speaking to Town & Country, Kelly slammed Hollywood and how “it can become a cyclone of bulls— and fakeness,” adding: “I know I won’t find my worth in that.”
She prefers to keep a low profile and spend her time at home with her husband Kyle Baugher, who split their time between New York City and her home country of England: “The only safe place for me is in the work – and then home with my husband.”
Because her character Beth is a spitfire tour de force, fans assume that she must be the same way, and are always surprised at how low-key and private she really is. She doesn’t mind that fans see her as Beth and not Kelly, in fact, she prefers it that way. The way she sees it, “In a time of oversharing, it feels rebellious to hold back.”
